Building for Life: A City on a Hill

Dear TVCC Family,

Welcome to Building for Life II: "A City on a Hill." After ten years, six locations, lots of prayers, and hundreds of changed lives, we're finally in our new home at 2500 E. Wood Street. While it's a huge marker in the life of Tennessee Valley Community Church, it is just that; a marker on the way, not a destination. We are all blessed to be a part of this great process and vision God has for us - to be change agents with a non-changing message of hope in an ever-changing world.

The challenge before us is not about paying for property. It's about preparing for the continued journey which is the mission and message of the redeeming, miraculous love of Jesus Christ. It's about ministering to the real needs and hurts of people that God sends our way. In short, BFL II: "A City on a Hill," is a powerful statement of the vision we've receieved and the value we've placed on that vision to grow as a family of Christ followers. This family believes so strongly in what God is doing that we will be willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to make it happen.

So, on March 21, we're going to do just that. Over the next 40 days, we're going to learn how to become radical givers through our current series, "40 Days of Radical Gratitude." We will show how  much we trust God to work through us as His people. In this spiritual growth campaign we will learn not only to have faith in what God can do, but to trust the He will do it through us. That Sunday, March 21st will be a radical day in the life of every person who believes in the vision and value God has placed here at TVCC. On that day we will all bring a one-time, sacrificial gift and make a three year committment to pay off our indebtedness. While our debt is a little over 1.6 million dollars, I don't want that to become our goal. What if God wants to bring two million or three million, or more? What if the very thing God wants to do through this offering is bigger than any of us could imagine? Why would we limit Him? Whatever we receive will be used for His glory. We will add what we need to add, pay off what we need to pay off, and move forward in missions to a lost and hurting world.

As you and your family pray for God's guidance in your sacrifice and giving, we want to ask you to do something else: keep a journal of your committment and God's provision. I'm asking you to e-mail your story to mystory@tvcc.us to share how God challenged your faith and then His faithfulness in meeting that challenge through you and your family. Trust Him and put Him to the test.

May God bless you "according to your faith" (Matthew 9:29),

Pastor Steve

When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord." Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you." Matthew 9:28-29 (ESV)
