Rich Man Poor Man

What are you going through? Good times? Hard times? Wellness? Sickness? It is easier to lose perspective than it is to be perfected. Each of us, regardless of what we have or don’t have, must keep our eyes on the true measure of our delight; our spiritual position as God’s children.

Too many times, we’re tempted to measure our worth in the kingdom by our health or net worth rather than our wealth because of our God-worth. According to James, we must never measure our worth or God’s love by our circumstances but by our position in Christ. If we have little, we are to boast in the fact that we have been honored by God as His children! Those who have plenty will come to lowly estate as well since life is short and riches an unsure measuring tool of true success.

Rich or poor, James instructs us to “boast in” or to “glory in” the humbling fact that testing and trial comes to us all leaving us with one thing; to glory in our position in Christ. We must see our true wealth through the lens of the Cross:

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” 1 John 3:1a (ESV)

So if life goes south, watch your mouth! Your condition is not your position! No one can steal what has been permanently secured; eternal life through Christ. We have the promise of God that whether poor or rich, sick or well, tragedy or triumph, He is working it out for His glory and our good.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 (NLT)

Always remember…THE BEST IS YET TO COME! And, GOD GETS THE GLORY! END OF STORY!
